Satin or silk: what your bonnet actually does
By Heather Dapaah · 3 min read
A bonnet or pillowcase has one job: it lets your hair slide instead of catching on cotton, which pulls moisture out and roughens the cuticle overnight.
Satin
Satin is a weave, usually polyester. It’s smooth, affordable and easy to wash, and it does the job well.
Silk
Silk is a natural fibre. It’s breathable and very smooth, but it costs more and needs gentler care.
From the chair. The best bonnet is the one that stays on all night.
