Hair Care
The wash-day order that keeps moisture in
By Heather Dapaah · 4 min read
Most dryness has less to do with the products you own than the order you use them in. This is the sequence we follow at the basin.
Cleanse the scalp, not the lengths
Focus shampoo on the scalp, where oil and build-up sit. The suds that run down through the lengths are enough for them.
Condition, then detangle
Detangle with conditioner in, working in sections from the ends up. Slip does the work your comb would otherwise do by force.
From the chair. If you change one thing, change the order: cleanse, condition, detangle on slip, then seal.
Seal while it’s damp
Apply your leave-in and oil while your hair is damp, not soaking and not dry. That window is short, and it’s the step most people skip.
